Ok, so my brother had a friends birthday party the other week. It was gamer themed, at least that is what I understood from the invite. So I figured the kid liked video games or just games in general. So I chose the most well known and popular character that most people would know: Yoshi.
Now I have a soft spot for this guy. I’ve always loved making Mario get eggs so I could get Yoshi for the rest of the game. Even if Yoshi would be a hindrance. I like him that much and would be really sad every time I had to leave him behind in boss castles in Super Mario World for the Gameboy. I really want to play that island game but I never have time and it would just end up sitting collecting dust when until I do.
Alright, so I did something fairly simple. I didn’t have the luxury of time because I am a procrastinator. Getting anything done is a struggle. I have to plan out step-by-step, day-by-day, plan out my week to get stuff done. Anyway, back to the card.
So what I did up front was a simple Yoshi egg. Really quick and easy to do. The card looked so sad though so I used some twine for the corners. I really like twine and will use any excuse to use it. Now the inside I decided to use Yoshi’s head to give it some color. This head was originally going to be on the cover but I ended up drawing it too small and I decided an egg would be faster and easier to make big enough. The inside was left mostly blank so my brother could write his piece.
So the gift was money, duh. So I attempted to make a pocket, then half-way through cutting out a square I decided to used twine. I just tied twine and glued it. Once it was dry, I just tied the money up. Pretty simple really. The bow job looks awful because again, no time to try and do something more with it. I wish I gave myself more time to do this but it turned out great regardless!
