Fabulous Hair Birthday Card

This card was made for a friend of mine who also does my hair. She is has been a friend and hair stylist to me for a few years now and has done a fabulous job every time! I wanted to make something fun, cute, and show some awesome and colorful hair.

Have you seen those clip art outline of hair that section of hair? Sometimes people color it? I wanted to go for something like that but much more simple and the sections must bigger. First, I drew out a couple of rough outlines of hair. I knew I wanted to keep it long so I could show off more color. And I wanted it waving and bigger to make it easier for me to cut out the pieces needed and see what it was supposed to represent. Hair.

The colors didn’t really take much thought. I’m partial to them. Whether it be my hair or my cards. At first, I wanted something that was more gradual but then decided they looked good together anyway and kept them. I was originally going to keep it just the hair. But after looking at it some more while deciding on a base for the card, I decided to add a head and a single eye. It ended up really cute, I think.

So, my Father’s Day card is late because I haven’t had the chance to give it to my dad. We celebrated early because he had a business trip and I didn’t finish in time. I thought I had another week but was then told my dad was leaving before Father’s Day. Well, good thing everything else was ready other than the card. He’ll get it when he gets back and so I’ll put it up then.
